Selamat
Subject Line, Salutation, Opening & Body, Closing, dan Sign-off.
A.
·
Prinsip: Singkat, spesifik, dan mencerminkan isi email.
·
Contoh Buruk: Job application
·
Contoh Baik: Job Application - Marketing Specialist - [Nama Anda]
·
Contoh Akademik: Inquiry Regarding Assignment 2 Deadline - [Nama & NIM Anda]
B.
Salutation (Salam Pembuka)
Gunakan salam
pembuka yang sopan dan profesional. Hindari kata-kata santai seperti "Hi"
·
Jika tahu nama penerima: Dear Mr. Smith, / Dear Ms. Davis, (Gunakan nama belakang/family name).
·
Jika belum tahu nama spesifiknya: Dear Hiring Manager, atau Dear Admissions Committee,.
·
Catatan: Hindari To Whom It May Concern karena terkesan terlalu kaku dan malas mencari
tahu.
C.
Opening Sentence (Kalimat Pembuka)
Nyatakan tujuan
Anda menulis email tersebut sejak kalimat pertama. Orang-orang sibuk menghargai
efisiensi.
·
I am writing to inquire about... (Saya menulis untuk menanyakan tentang...)
·
I am writing to formally apply for the position of... (Saya menulis untuk melamar
posisi...)
·
Thank you for your prompt response regarding... (Terima kasih atas
tanggapan cepat Anda mengenai...)
D.
The Body (Isi Email)
Gunakan paragraf
pendek (2-4 kalimat per paragraf). Fokus pada satu poin per paragraf agar email
mudah dibaca (scannable). Gunakan bullet points jika Anda
menyampaikan banyak data atau poin penting.
E.
Call to Action / Closing Sentence (Kalimat Penutup)
Sampaikan langkah
selanjutnya yang Anda harapkan dari penerima.
·
I look forward to hearing from you soon. (Saya berharap dapat segera
mendengar kabar dari Anda.)
·
Please find the attached document for your review. (Silakan periksa dokumen
terlampir untuk ditinjau.)
F.
Sign-off & Signature (Salam Penutup & Tanda Tangan)
·
Sincerely, (Paling standar dan aman)
·
Best regards, atau Kind regards,
·
Diikuti: Nama Anda, Jabatan/Status Mahasiswa, No. Telepon, dan LinkedIn (jika
relevan).
2.
Perbedaan Bahasa Formal vs. Informal (Penting!)
Banyak pembelajar
|
Gaya Informal / Santai |
Gaya Formal (Gunakan Ini) |
Arti / Fungsi |
|
I wanna ask about... |
I would like to inquire about... |
Saya ingin bertanya tentang... |
|
Thanks for... |
I appreciate your assistance with... |
Terima kasih atas... |
|
Sorry for the delay. |
Please accept my apologies for the
delay. |
Maaf atas keterlambatan. |
|
Can you help me? |
Could you please assist me with...? |
Bisakah Anda membantu saya? |
|
ASAP |
At your earliest convenience |
Secepat mungkin (lebih sopan) |
|
Check this out. |
Please review the attached document. |
Tolong periksa dokumen ini. |
Tips Emas: Hindari penggunaan
singkatan kata (contractions) seperti don't, can't, I'm, atau it's
dalam email formal. Tulis versi lengkapnya: do not, cannot, I am, atau it
is.
3.
