Belajar Cardinal Numbers, Occupation dengan Was/Were, Prepositions of Time, dan Family Vocabulary

Kali ini kita akan masuk ke Lesson 7 dengan tema menarik: Unforgettable Experience (Pengalaman Tak Terlupakan).
Tapi sebelum kita bercerita tentang pengalaman masa lalu, yuk kita kuasai dulu beberapa materi penting dalam pelajaran ini:
👉 Cardinal Numbers, Occupation with Was/Were, Prepositions of Time (In, On), dan cara Talk About Family.

 

🔢 1. Cardinal Numbers (Angka dalam Bahasa Inggris)

Cardinal Numbers adalah angka yang digunakan untuk menghitung benda, umur, atau jumlah sesuatu.

Berbeda dengan Ordinal Numbers (first, second, third) yang digunakan untuk urutan.

📘 Contoh Cardinal Numbers:

4	four	14	fourteen
5	five	15	fifteen
6	six	16	sixteen
7	seven	17	seventeen
8	eight	18	eighteen
9	nine	19	nineteen

Dan seterusnya:

·         21 = twenty-one

·         30 = thirty

·         40 = forty

·         50 = fifty

·         100 = one hundred

·         1,000 = one thousand

🗣️ Contoh kalimat:

·         I have two brothers.

·         She bought five apples.

·         There are thirty students in my class.

·         My grandmother is seventy years old.

💡 Tips cepat:

Gunakan Cardinal Numbers untuk menghitung, bukan untuk posisi.
Contoh:
✅ I have three cats.

❌ I have third cats. (salah, karena third itu urutan)

 

👨‍🏫 2. Occupation with Was and Were

Sekarang kita belajar bagaimana menyebut pekerjaan (occupation) di masa lampau menggunakan was dan were.

🧩 Rumus Dasar:

Subject + was/were + occupation/noun

Gunakan was untuk:

·         I

·         He

·         She

·         It

Gunakan were untuk:

·         You

·         We

·         They

🧰 Contoh Occupation (Pekerjaan):

doctor	dokter
nurse	perawat

driver	sopir
soldier	tentara
chef	koki
engineer	insinyur
student	pelajar
carpenter	tukang kayu

🗣️ Contoh kalimat:

·         I was a student ten years ago.

·         My father was a driver when he was young.

·         We were teachers at the same school.

·         They were soldiers in the army.

·         You were a great singer in high school!

💬 Bentuk Negatif:

Subject + was/were + not + occupation

Contoh:

·         I was not (wasn’t) a teacher.

·         She wasn’t a nurse.

·         They were not (weren’t) engineers.

❓Bentuk Pertanyaan:

Was/Were + Subject + occupation?

Contoh:

·         Was your mother a teacher? → Yes, she was. / No, she wasn’t.

·         Were they students last year? → Yes, they were. / No, they weren’t.

 

⏰ 3. Prepositions of Time (In, On)

Prepositions of Time digunakan untuk menunjukkan kapan sesuatu terjadi.
Tiga preposisi yang paling sering digunakan adalah in, on, dan at.
Tapi di pelajaran ini kita fokus pada in dan on dulu.

🌼 Gunakan in untuk:

1.      Bulan → in January, in May

2.      Tahun → in 2020, in 1999

3.      Musim → in the summer, in the winter

4.      Bagian waktu yang panjang → in the morning, in the evening

🗣️ Contoh:

·         I was born in 2005.

·         She traveled to Bali in June.

·         My family moved to Jakarta in the 1990s.

·         We usually jog in the morning.

 

☀️ Gunakan on untuk:

1.      Hari → on Monday, on Saturday

2.      Tanggal → on March 5th, on August 17th

3.      Hari Spesial → on my birthday, on New Year’s Day

🗣️ Contoh:

·         I met my best friend on Friday.

·         The concert was on July 21st.

·         We visited our grandmother on Christmas Day.

·         My father was born on October 3rd.

💡 Tips singkat:

·         “in” → waktu yang lebih umum / panjang

·         “on” → waktu lebih spesifik

Contoh perbandingan:

I was born in 2000.
My birthday is on June 15th.

 

👨‍👩‍👧 4. Talk About Family (Berbicara tentang Keluarga)

Setelah tahu numbers dan was/were, kita bisa mulai bercerita tentang keluarga dalam bentuk past tense.

🗣️ Contoh kalimat:

·         My father was a soldier when he was young.

·         My mother was a nurse at the city hospital.

·         My grandparents were farmers in the village.

·         We were a happy family living near the beach.

·         I was the youngest child in my family.

 

✏️ Practice Time! (Latihan Yuk!)

🧮 A. Write the correct Cardinal Number:

1.      I have ______ (3) sisters.

2.      My grandfather is ______ (75) years old.

3.      There are ______ (20) students in my class.

🧑‍🏫 B. Complete with was or were:

1.      I ______ a student last year.

2.      They ______ teachers in my school.

3.      She ______ not a nurse.

4.      ______ you a driver before?

⏰ C. Fill with the correct preposition (in or on):

1.      My birthday is ______ May 5th.

2.      He was born ______ 2004.

3.      We visited Bali ______ June.

4.      I met my friend ______ Saturday.

👨‍👩‍👧 D. Talk about your family (buat kalimatmu sendiri):

Tulis 453 kalimat tentang keluargamu menggunakan was/were.
Contoh:

·         My father was a teacher.

·         My mother was a good cook.

·         We were a small but happy family.

Di Lesson 7, kita belajar:

1.      Cardinal Numbers untuk menghitung.

2.      Was/Were untuk menyatakan pekerjaan atau keadaan di masa lampau.

3.      Prepositions of Time (in, on) untuk menjelaskan kapan sesuatu terjadi.

4.      Family Vocabulary untuk menceritakan tentang keluarga kita.

Sekarang kamu sudah bisa membuat kalimat seperti ini:

“My father was a farmer. He worked hard in the field in 1990. We lived in a small village on Java Island. I have two brothers and one sister. We were a happy family!”
