Introduction

Pendahuluan

In this lesson, you will learn how to use negatives in the present passive. The passive voice is commonly used in English when the focus is on the action instead of the person who performs the action.
Dalam pelajaran ini, Anda akan belajar menggunakan kalimat negatif dalam present passive. Kalimat pasif sering digunakan dalam bahasa Inggris ketika fokusnya pada aksi daripada orang yang melakukan aksi.

For example:
Contoh:

My name is spelled J-E-F-F.
Nama saya dieja J-E-F-F.

This sentence focuses on the action is spelled, not on the person spelling the name.
Kalimat ini berfokus pada aksi dieja, bukan pada orang yang mengeja nama tersebut.

Now look at the negative form:
Sekarang lihat bentuk negatifnya:

My name is not spelled that way.
Nama saya tidak dieja seperti itu.

This is called a negative present passive sentence.
Ini disebut kalimat negatif present passive.

Subject + am / is / are + past participle

Makanan itu disiapkan.

These sentences focus on the action, not the person.
Kalimat ini berfokus pada aksi, bukan pada orangnya.

To make negative sentences, we add not after am / is / are.
Untuk membuat kalimat negatif, kita menambahkan not setelah am / is / are.

Pintu tidak dibuka.

The food is not served yet.
Makanan belum disajikan.

The letter is not sent.
Surat tidak dikirim.

The room is not cleaned.

B: Oh, tidak dieja G-E-O-F-F?

A: No, it's not spelled that way.
A: Tidak, tidak dieja seperti itu.

This conversation shows present passive and negative present passive.
Percakapan ini menunjukkan present passive dan present passive negatif.

We can also ask questions in present passive.
Kita juga dapat membuat pertanyaan dalam present passive.

Examples:

Is the door closed?
Apakah pintu ditutup?

Is the food prepared?
Apakah makanan disiapkan?

Are the letters sent?
Apakah surat dikirim?

Negative Questions:
Pertanyaan Negatif:

Isn't the door locked?
Bukankah pintu dikunci?

Isn't the room cleaned?
Bukankah ruangan dibersihkan?
